Readiness scan — frequently asked questions

What is a CBAM readiness scan?
A CBAM readiness scan is a short structured assessment that quantifies an operator's exposure to the EU Carbon Border Adjustment Mechanism and scores decarbonisation maturity across measurement, mitigation, energy, capital and governance. GGSN's scan produces a shareable pathway dashboard in minutes.
How is my CBAM exposure calculated?
Exposure is modelled as annual CBAM-scope goods value × carbon intensity (tCO₂e per £1k of goods) × indicative carbon price (€/tCO₂e), then adjusted for the share of embedded emissions already independently verified.
Is the scan free and confidential?
Yes. The scan runs entirely in your browser, state is held in the URL so it is shareable at your discretion, and no personal data is submitted to GGSN unless you explicitly request a strategic briefing at the end.
How long does the scan take?
Most operators complete the five-step scan in under five minutes. Deeper capital-stack modelling with the GGSN team is a separate 90-day engagement.
What do the readiness bands mean?
Foundational (0–35): baseline scoping needed. Developing (35–60): active but fragmented. Advancing (60–80): coordinated pathway underway. Sovereign-Ready (80–100): CBAM-defensible, capital-stack aligned.
What happens after I get my score?
You receive a shareable dashboard with your exposure, six-dimension scores and a horizon-based action plan. You can then request a strategic briefing to translate the pathway into a funded programme.
